Gilly's Orange oil

Gilly's Orange oil

An all-purpose timber and cane furniture maintenance oil. Orange Oil is 100% plant based and food safe, contains no silicone and smells wonderful. It is one of our most popular products, and a great choice for maintaining furniture in a safe, natural way.

An excellent alternative to waxing, if a high sheen is not required. Gilly’s Orange Oil has great cleaning properties and is exceptional for old neglected furniture as it both cleans and restores. It is also a simple way of keeping cane and bamboo furniture in good condition and for feeding unpolished surfaces, such as drawers and undersides of tables. It darkens the timber as if it were wet - the natural orange colour does not stain.

USE FOR

Timber furniture, cane & bamboo, antiques, kitchen utensils, chopping boards, children’s toys, underside of draws/tables.

SURFACE PREPERATION

Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application. An all purpose cleaner will do the trick.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Apply with a soft cloth (or brush for carved/irregular areas).

2. Let it absorb into timber for 5 minutes, before buffing back with another clean cloth.

3. Apply 3 coats, if timber is new or dry, repeating the same procedure. Subsequent coats can be applied straight after buffing. Each timber will vary in porosity and dryness, so the number of coats required will vary. Once timber is saturated, there is no need for any more. Take care not to over-apply; residue can become sticky and attract dirt.

DRYING TIME

Dry time between coats is 5-10 minutes to allow oil to soak in. This oil essentially remains in the timber keeping it nourished. It will not ‘dry’ in the same way a varnish or tung oil formula would.

MAINTENANCE

Gilly’s Orange Oil can be reapplied as frequently as required (if the timber becomes dull or dry).  There is no need for any extra work, just follow the simple steps above.  We would recommend reapplying a light coat every 4-6 months to keep your timber looking fresh. The more oil that has been applied over time, the less it will require for maintenance.

CLEAN UP

Warm, soapy water for hands and application cloths.
